Canada’s business and labour leaders meet to discuss the country’s skills shortage
Winnipeg, MB - The Workplace Partners Panel (WPP), a collaborative initiative led by business and labour leaders concerned with Canada’s aging workforce and current skills shortages, is holding a forum in Winnipeg to discuss progress made during its cross-country investigation of Canada's skills challenges. The Forum will hear from representatives of business and labour leaders from Saskatchewan and Atlantic Canada that have been exploring skill shortage issues in the context of an aging workforce.
Local Manitoban business and labour representatives will also join the discussion and explore the possibility of launching a WPP Manitoba regional Task Force in the fall. Premier Gary Doer will address the group at a luncheon and discuss the need to address the province’s skills shortage.
The Workplace Partners Panel is a federally funded initiative of the Canadian Labour and Business Centre. Its co-chairs are Ken Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, and Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.
